World History for Tuesday, March 29

  1. World War II Review Sheet.  Due Wednesday, March 30 for periods 4 & 6.  Due Thursday, March 31 for period 1.
  2. We watched a very short video about the pilot of the Enola Gay who flew the mission during which the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.  See the video below.
  3. We then discussed the key events of World War II and students recorded the chart in their notes.  Here's what we discussed:
    1. Road to War:  Europe--Hitler's demands and the Allies' appeasement.  Pacific--Japanese expansion
    2. Start of War: Europe--Invasion of Poland.  Pacific--Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor
    3. Turning Point:  Europe--D-Day and Stalingrad.  Pacific--Battle of Midway
    4. End of War:  Europe--Berlin destroyed.  Pacific--Atomic bombs on Hiroshima & Nagasaki
