U.S. History for Thursday & Friday, February 4 & 5

  1. Notes on the Battle of Midway.  Copy from a classmate.
  2. Watch excerpt on Midway from The War.
  3. Visit website on Midway--see site below.
  4. Notes on the D-Day Invasion.  Copy from a classmate.
  5. Watch excerpt on D-Day from The War.
In class we went to the Battle of Midway website created by National Geographic.  Check it out to see the pictures of the USS Yorktown, some 16,000 feet under the surface of the Pacific Ocean!

Also, last week we tried to go to the National Geographic site on Pearl Harbor.  We couldn't get to it in class, so here it is.  Also, there's an off-shoot site that is fully interactive.  It's a really cool feature that they have on Pearl Harbor--check it out here.

U.S. History: PBS Preview of The War

As I mentioned previously on this blog, we're watching portions of the PBS documentary by Ken Burns called The War. The documentary is about 15 hours long on 6 DVDs, but I came across a 27 minute preview that was shown in anticipation of the documentary's release in 2007.  Take a look.

U.S. History for Tuesday & Wednesday, February 2 & 3

  3. Clip on internment from The War.
  4. Notes on the 442nd Regimental Combat Unit.  Copy from a classmate.
  5. Clip on internment from The War.
